This webpage, along with Unfettered Capitalism and Trickle Down Economics, was inspired into being by commenters in the dialogue after the Evangelizing for Communism webpage. A bevy of "please do not publish this" comments from alarmed people showed radically different views of American ideology up against Socialism. What I found alarming about these comments is the common strain of thought that did not find Socialism or any other parts of Marxism to be a direct mortal threat to America. Furthermore, many do not even recognize Marxist disinformation or ploys or agendas for what they are when they see them. It needed more than just a quick response; hence, these three new webpages.
To be clear:
This is a view of Social Justice from a different angle than you have probably seen so far. It is from the bottom up. The author is merely an ordinary working man, and merely an ordinary Catholic layman. A bottom-feeder, in other words. Everything everyone else does affects the bottom feeder. As an American, he, once upon a time, had what was known as representative government, but, no more. Government now governs in direct opposition to his views, and he has no voice. He may as well not exist. Social Justice is supposed to be about him, acting in his better interest, but it was created, modified and enforced by others, without his input, and even against his will.
So what, exactly, is Social Justice? The term came into being and was first used during the 1840s as part of the Marxist - Anarchist incitement to violent revolution in Europe. It made its greatest advances during the social upheavals and revolutions inspired by publication of the Communist Manifesto in 1848. What most historians missed - with most historians already favoring Marxism under the title of Social Justice - is that Marx, and Marxists, exaggerated, propagandized, increased and incited greater division between laborer and employer in order to
In other words, they created and/or accentuated animosity between worker and employer, and then capitalized on it by screaming "Social Justice!" to incite workers to open rebellion.
It was and is a diabolically clever master-stroke of a still working lie.
Thus, with the acceptance of that long lasting lie, we have the near universally accepted notion that violence is never justified, except when that violence seeks equality of possessions. For the sake of achieving equality of something, violence is indeed justified. And the list of things to be equalized continually grows. Dignity. Jobs. Housing. Things not even possible to be "equalized" throughout any sizable population, let alone the world population.
The American Ideal of equality of all men before the law, with natural rights to life, liberty and the enjoyment of the fruits of one's own labor, and the unique notion of the Sovereign Citizen with Representative Government, took it's first Marxist hit under Republican President Theodore Roosevelt. When he couldn't get his grand social programs though Congress, he formed a new "progressive" political Party, called the Bull Moose Party, which, luckily, failed politically. However, he had introduced the "Progressive" path to Socialism, in smaller steps rather than sudden revolution, ala the Hegelian Dialectic.
Democrat President Woodrow Wilson advanced the Socialist ball significantly with the establishment of Marx's recommended Federal Reserve, and the establishment of Marx's recommended Graduated Progressive Income Tax. He had to get a Constitutional Amendment ratified to get the income tax, but he was able to accomplish it in just one year. Note that the distinctly un-American ideas of a central bank and a graduated income tax came right straight out of Marx's Communist Manifesto. It was all accomplished with voter support under the misguiding, disinformation title of Social Justice.
Equal distribution sounds so good, everybody accepts it. Whatever is done in its name will be accepted by the masses. Forget the impracticality and the impossibility, and don't consider any possible ulterior motive. It sounds good; trust the speaker, hope for the best and support it.
But where the Progressive strain of Marxism really took off in America was under Democrat President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, with his "New Deal" grand social programs. That set the stage for the ongoing and ever increasing institution of more and more federal government agencies and bureaucracies to regulate and administer more and more of the private sphere of activity in America, completely outside the Constitutional legislative, legal and judicial processes. Bureaucracies became unelected and unaccountable governments unto themselves, making and enforcing unrepresentative rules and regulations with full force of law.
But what may have been worse than that was how FDR infected both the American national and the larger international psyches with, essentially, typical Marxian pipe-dream visions of social and societal perfection and eventual total equality in everything. Worldly perfection. He did this with his regular, fatherly radio "Fireside Chats" with the public, and with his universally adopted Four Freedoms.
Now, the first two of these freedoms were already fixed in our Constitution, but the other two were, and are, impractical and impossible to fulfill. How do you, or any government, or any entity, guarantee anyone that they will never be afraid of anything again? Or that they will never want for anything again? Nevertheless, these Four Freedoms were greatly popularized throughout the world as worthy and achievable goals worth striving for.
First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt presented these Four Freedoms to the already heavily Marxist United Nations, and from these Four Freedoms the UN developed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This UN Declaration put Marx's original Social Justice deception on steroids. It included items that are quite obviously impossible to "equalize" across any population, let alone any national population, let alone the world population. Equal pay. Equal housing. Equal standard of living. Equal retirement. Equal health care. Equal "unemployment" pay. Equal education. The list goes on; motherhood pay; child care pay; disability pay; old age and infirmity pay; there is no end.
Where is all this money supposed to come from?
Remember the Social Justice mantra:
It had better come from somewhere.
What men of good intent who have been mesmerized by this UN Declaration have missed is that the real intent behind it is to create and promote class envy, to foment discontent, and to create chaos, for out of such chaos comes revolutionary possibilities. The Social Justice ploy makes people want all these things, to believe they have a right to them, to clamor for them, to demand them, and even to be willing to fight for them. To fight even against a straw villain.
And Capitalism is Marx's straw villain, with Private property the perceived target, but the real target is liberty itself.
The Catholic Church's Social Justice teaching is kind of a mixed bag of pros and cons. In many Church documents we see a tendency to see Capitalism, or the Free Market, as some sort of designed and controlled system of man, rather than a natural thing that springs from human liberty. Whenever liberty is controlled, the free market is adversely affected; similarly, whenever any aspect of the Free Market is controlled, human liberty is adversely affected.
The best imaginable controls that could or should be put on either human liberty or the Free Market should be those voluntary controls by which men direct their behavior, under the impetus of high morality. And, the best and highest morality in this world stems from a good Judeo-Christian Ethos, which in turn is born of our national Christian religion. What Benjamin Franklin called our "General Christianity." It flows from that that the best civil laws restraining human behavior would stem from that same ethos, born of that same religion. It used to be called Representative Law, which was legislated into being by what used to be called Representative Government.
I urge you to read Pope Leo XII's Rerum Novarum in it's entirety; It's not too long, and it is an excellent read. I find it almost impossible to use "pull quotes" from it, because every time I start to select a sentence, it turns into a paragraph, then two, and on, and on, because all of it is just so quotable. He takes issue with abuses of the Capitalist system, yes, but he absolutely demolishes Marxist redistribution. Read it; I promise you, it will hold your attention.
On the other hand, Benedict XVI's Caritas Veritate was quite a surprise to me. I always loved Benedict, even when he was just Cardinal Ratzinger, and I still do. However, he is misguided in his promotion of a global government. The advance of global communications, global commerce, the global internet and so forth do not portend or presage the "inevitable" global collective community, although that is another myth real Marxist deceivers will be more than happy to expropriate if indeed they did not invent it. And there is not, nor will there ever be, any worldly authority decent, stable and trustworthy enough to govern such a global entity, least of all the thoroughly corrupt UN. We spoke about this previously in The Pope on Globalism.
The latest Papal pronouncement on the topic is, of course, Pope Francis' Evengelli Gaudium, about which we wrote Evangelizing for Communism, Unfettered Capitalism, Trickle Down Economic Theory, and this page on Social Justice. Where Caritas Veritate surprised and dismayed me, Evanglii Gaudium just blew my doors off.
In my humble layman's view, the mission of evangelism should be aimed at opening the doors of the Church and encouraging all to enter, rather than at modifying the world civil order to somehow encompass all peoples and all property collectively. Entering the Church means conversion of the soul for a willing and voluntary birth or renewal of spiritual life. On the other hand, collectivization of civil global society necessarily means using force. There is no other way it could be done.
People will not easily give up their hard earned and owned private property. Christians, Moslems, Jews, Anarchists, Communists, Cannibals, Nazis, Satanists, Wicans, Head Hunters and Pirates will not all share the same table in peace. Nothing short of death or being conquered by war will induce many, probably most, American citizens to stand still for any foreign law or foreign government, not representative of them and not accountable to them, to be somehow superimposed over their own Constitution and over their own Constitutional government.
That's just the way it is.
Even the very idea of trying to accomplish equal distribution of wealth, or of anything at all, to everyone on earth is so impractical and so obviously impossible as to be stupid. I will never understand how so many good and decent "philosophical Communists" have failed to see the deception in it, and that the real goal of Marxism is and has always been the achievement of totalitarian dictatorship, pure and simple.
Marxism is only about the gaining of absolute worldly power.
Marxism really is Machiavellian, and Marxist Revolutionaries know it.
Social Justice from the perspective of the Bottom Feeder, like me, is quite a bit simpler. I'm just a lowly Catholic layman, and just an ordinary working man, so I don't speak on this, or on anything, with any real authority. But I do try hard to stay within the guidance of Magisterial Teaching, Holy Scripture and the Catechism, and to exercise good adult judgment, per Jesus, in John 7:14 (Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.)
To me, in my lowly status, Social Justice is tied up in how I treat my neighbor in this life, and a sort of reversal of stature or status in the next life. Matt. 25 tells me how I am to treat my neighbor, and how I am to be judged by how well or how poorly I do that. "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me."
He tells me in His Word that, to whom much is given, much will be demanded. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom. Not impossible, but considerably more difficult; the rich get their reward in this life, less so in the next.
The final, ultimate "Social Justice" will occur after Judgment, for He tells me in His Word, over and over again, how the first will be last, the last will be first, the mighty will be brought low and the lowly will be exalted. After their judgment, it was Lazarus, the poor man, who was in the bosom of Abraham while the rich man was burning in hell. The truly poor will be over us all, provided we even make it.
I am just a "speak the Truth and shake the dust" kind of guy. Give the other guy the Truth he needs to make a good decision, and then let it go. To take something from him to give to someone else would be wrong. Even to encourage someone else to do such a thing would be wrong. He will come to the Lord willingly, or he will not; similarly, he will be charitable, or he will not. He cannot be forced to do good, or to be good. The ends do not justify the means.
There is wrong and evil in the world, because, that's just the way it is. We have to recognize it and deal with it, but we cannot eliminate it. Perfection is not of this world, but the next.
Marxist Social Justice has hatched other Marxist social snares, such as Racial Justice, Gender Justice, Environmental Justice, Animal Justice and so forth. All of it based on lies. They may label it "justice" all they want to, but it is injustice that they seek.
Take Racial Justice, for instance. It is not racial equality, but racial privilege that it seeks. It is a lie. Government programs and laws, and any other social rules, imposing "Equal Opportunity" and "Affirmative Action" in America are strictly and purely racist programs, enforced against Caucasians. It is not possible to produce a program that favors some race without that program simultaneously discriminating against another race. Purposely aiming to discriminate against a race is, almost definitively, racist. Race issues today are just another branch of Marxist class warfare.
As are "Hate Crimes" and "Hate Speech." The current brouhaha over the name of the Washington Redskins is a good case in point. To my knowledge, not only was one of the original people who named the team Redskins a Mohawk Indian, but no Indian Tribe has ever complained about the name in the first place. I submit that if the team name was the Washington White Skins, or the Washington Honkies, or the Washington Crackers, or the Washington Gringos, or the Washington Pale Faces, nobody ever would have said a word. We are the only people who are not super-sensitive and easily wounded.
Those who promote agendas of multiculturalism and diversity, ostensibly in the name of tolerance, are always intolerant of the majority race and the majority culture. There is a discernable pattern here.
Worst of all these days is the branch of Social Justice addressing "gender equality," with - of course - more than two genders in play. In fact, more than three. And more than five. It never ends. Now courts in California (of course) are allowing - I mean requiring - Kindergarteners and first graders to "decide" if they feel that they should use an opposite-gender rest room, because they "feel" that they might actually "be" the opposite gender.
These children are receiving government indoctrination masquerading as education, and being raised by parents who were government educated, whose parents in turn were government educated, and it just keeps getting worse. What the hell does "gender identity" have to do with kindergarten or first grade education? They are purposely being taught that they might be homosexual before they even know what that means. The warping and twisting of culture begins in formal education. Note that, in the gender-identity branch of Social Justice, it is only the heterosexual who lacks special privilege and recognition, and who gets no special protections from others.
When the multicultural branch of Social Justice moves to religion, it is only Christians who are left out of the club, and in those rare instances when the broad spectrum of Christians are allowed in, it is always the Catholics who are odd man out.
So, as a Roman Catholic heterosexual white male, I really am a bottom feeder among bottom feeders, and the lowest of the low. I represent the only citizen entity in America whom everyone else can dump on with impunity, and who can dump on no one else. Ostracized and insulted by all, I am not allowed to speak, by order of the Political Correctness Police.
Well, I don't know about you, buddy, but I'm fed up with it, and I'm not baking down. It's time to turn things around.
Environmental Justice is so stupid it is sickening. Like Gender-Justice, there is not a lick of real science backing it up; the whole thing is a purposeful fraud. Multiple frauds. Outlawing light bulbs, for heaven's sake, expecting that to some how stop global warming that is not even occurring. It turns out the globe is cooling.
I have mild asthma, and I carry around an abuterol inhaler as a "rescue" medication in the rare case of shortness of breath. They used to cost about ten bucks. Now, guess what, they cost over seventy. The reason is that a law or regulation was passed by a bunch of silly twits pretending to be my legal representatives, to eliminate, not the medicine, but the propellant for the medicine. Why? Because these jackasses thought (or wanted us to think) that any time I inhaled any of that propellent, it might adversely affect the Ozone Layer and contribute to the Ozone Hole Crisis that might end all life on earth.
Of course, that was a lie. A purposeful fraud. It eliminated such things as freon, and styrofoam, and other things from the free market, and it had absolutely no effect whatsoever on the Ozone Layer. The whole thing was false, just like global warming. All it did was make car, house and office air conditioners, and refrigerators and freezers, larger and less efficient, consuming more fuel per unit of output, and eliminate a perfectly good and safe insulator. I don't know what angers me more, between the Marxism behind the original lie, or the shear stupidity of the politicians who believe it, and who sponsor and defend such absolute lunacy, at our cost.
We are the ones who have to live with the consequences of this insanity.
We are ruled by fools, and that's bad enough. But with Evangelii Gaudium, it looks to me, from my admittedly low viewpoint, that foolishness has made its way into the upper ranks of the Church.
Pray for the Pope.

This is ignorant of the known facts about gender identity. You call this your brand of social justice but you ignore the plight of those who have no choice in the way they were born. There are many scientific studies proving it. Insensitivity and homophobia have no place in a website that calls itself Catholic.

The shoe is on the other foot here. I am not the one displaying ignorance of the fact that homosexuals are made, not born. There exists in all the world not one shred of real empirical scientific evidence supporting your statement. See the Homo Nazi Movement page, and the rest of The Scientism Pages.
Regarding insensitivity, that is something that runs on a two-way street. You have no problem slandering me with the unearned title "homophobe," but you would likely go into fibrillation and call the PC Police if you ever heard the word faggot. Am I right?
Show me some real evidence of "born" homosexuality, or recognize it as a lie.

You are correct in your response to Diane from Spokane. No empirical evidence exists that indicates that gender identity is "the way they were born". I notice that currently there is a scientific quest to find a "gay gene". The discovery would "prove" that homosexuality is "something a person was born with". This of course would make homosexuality acceptable, and would show the Christians a thing or two about modern morality, wouldn't it? But if there is a gay gene to be found, why not a pedophile gene or an alcoholic gene, too? Anybody could then cite genetic makeup to explain away any behavioral tendency. Man would then be only as the result of genetic processes, having no free will or responsibility. There would be no such thing as sin so we wouldn't even need a God. HOWEVER if there is a gene for every behavioral preference, that means that genes could be tweaked to change every tendency including homosexuality, pedophilia, and alcoholism. Do you think the current crop of gays, child molesters, and drunks would agree to a little genetic manipulation? Of course, the moment anyone said "Yes" or "No" would presume a choice, which immediately disproves the "man is machine with no free will or personal responsibility and no sin or God" argument, wouldn't it?

That is an excellent observation.
The two two things that I find the most galling about this whole topic are:
We must change to accommodate them, in society, in the make-up of the normative family, in the nature of the normative marriage, in our recognition of clear and obvious perversion, even in our religion. They even want the unchangeable Word of God to be changed to accommodate their chosen and preferred way of achieving a perverted and illicit form of sexual gratification. That's all it is.
American culture is descending through layers of nonsense into pure evil.

Very true! However, I don't see it so much as a cultural shift as it is a fundamental error: Truth is Truth regardless of what anyone believes about it or how anyone "reasons" themselves around it. People (like Diane from Spokane) who pick and choose religious tenets they happen to agree with while rejecting other tenets they happen to disagree with are really saying something about themselves. They shape God to suit themselves rather than shape themselves to suit God. This of course is the result of TRMITM (The Reason Man's In This Mess) the Truth that was revealed clearly in Genesis 3:1-7.

From: Vic Biorseth
But that seems to have become the norm now, doesn't it? Perhaps cultural shift has already degenerated into cultural rot. We see it so much now we are no longer shocked.
You would have to look far and wide to find a public personality who would publicly roundly condemn homosexuality without some back-down, like "I know gays who are wonderful people" or "I don't personally care about their private lives," despite the fact that the "gays" keep insisting on making it and keeping it all very, very public.
We are the intolerant ones, not them. If you condemn this particular variety of sexual sin, you will be the one to be roundly condemned, by everyone, not only the "gays."

I like your use of TRMITM so much I'm thinking about giving it a webpage and adding it in among the Smart Assed Hover Links pages, with your permission. That is, indeed, the very beginning point of the loss of human individual, familial and cultural sanity. The farther we separate ourselves from God the less and less sense we make, as individuals, as families and as a people.
What do you think about that?

Sorry this is late. I just opened and spotted your last entry as there is no e-mail alert function on your blog. Yes, please use the TRMITM. Not only would I be flattered, I would be also spiritually strengthened.
