Civilization versus Savagery: On Distinct Peoplehood.

Civilization makes an identifiable civil People; savage, barbaric trends remove the distinction.

To "civilize" a child, children or a group of people, is to raise them up out of a state of selfishness and/or savagery to become peaceful, cooperative, predictable members of a larger peaceful, cooperative and predictable community. Higher levels of civilization bring higher levels of peace, cooperation and predictability to the whole culture, including advances in government, science and industry. Predictably. Advances in good government, science and industry are dependent upon peace, cooperation and predictability. That's the way civilization works.
