On laymen manhandling Jesus in the Catholic Mass.

Should handling Jesus be a such commonplace, ordinary thing? How did we ever get to the point of daring to touch Him?

Shortly after I came home for good, after a tour and a half in Vietnam, the Catholic world was rocked by the introduction of the Paul VI's Novus Ordo (New Order) Mass. Everything changed. All these new Altars suddenly appeared, everywhere, seemingly overnight. The Priest turned around to face us, not the Tabernacle. The Choir came down from the Choir Loft and moved up front, just outside the sacred area, and faced us, not the Tabernacle. It had all the aspects of a "Show". Theater.
