Why the surprise at the sudden rise of Communism in American politics?

There is absolutely nothing sudden about it. It's been growing and building in education, entertainment, news reporting, government and politics all my life.

To be a Communist (or a Socialist, or an Islamic) is to be anti-American. Period. You cannot be a Communist and not be an anti-American. Communism and Constitutional America are poles apart, antithetical and mortal enemies of each other. They cannot peacefully coexist on the same ground. Communism being allowed to exist in America makes about as much sense as the very idea of a two state solution for Israel, which would be suicidal stupidity for Israel to accept and try to live with.
