Ohio Issue 1 was a very big deal. Instead of seeking a mere 60% vote requirement for constitutional amendments, it should have sought a 76% requirement, like the federal constitution; but it lost anyway, thanks to millions spent on adds by out-of-state entities and billionaires. Should Ohio consider itself to be a democracy, or a republic? That's the question.
