Is the whole "climate change" scare actually, truthfully, scientific?

Really? Where's the empirical evidence? How, exactly, is it NOT politically scientific, aimed at population control through fear, and greater political power over people?

Once upon a time in Politically Scientifical Academe, Global Cooling was all the rage, and "Scientists" were recommending a massive air assault to drop soot on the arctic ice cap, ostensibly to gather heat from the sun and warm the earth. Or something equally scientistical.
