You may say it's about autonomy, but what is autonomy in the absence of sovereignty? Man is a social being, in need of family, religion, morality and a nation, and each of these have sovereign boundaries. The great lesson of World War II was the sacredness of national sovereignty. The victorious nations all agreed that no nation was ever to be allowed to invade or otherwise infringe the sovereignty of any other nation.
