How did God recognize His own, before He had even fully revealed Himself to man? By the Goodwill in their hearts, which is mysteriously connected with the Goodwill of God Himself.
When the Angels appeared to the shepherds in the field to announce the birth of our Lord, they proclaimed "Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will" (Luke 2:14). Not to all men, but only to men of good will.
Does the original deliniation between good and evil persist today, in the non-Catholic and less distinct form of Good Will versus Bad Will? Yes. God uses who He will. Remember that Cyrus, who was not a Jew, issued the edict releasing the Jews from captivity and ordered the rebuilding of their Temple.
We all know that President Trump is no saint, and most of us know that neither are we. You have to look at the opponents of Trump, and the opponents of most of us, to find people who are certain, certain, that they and they alone posses and safeguard truth in all matters, and that the rest of us need to be forced by law to not resist their imposition of all of their 'truths' on us, on our nation and on the whole world.
Note well that they are all 'badwill' truths. The goodness and necessity of abortion. The non-sinfulness of sodomy. The normalcy and social acceptance of sexual perversion. The end of borders and national sovereignty. The opposition to the rule of law and the need for sanctuary cities. The acceptability of adultery, and of premarital and extramarital sex. The very existence and the need for special rights for transexuals.
The exact opposite of Goodwill.
Goodwill is the connection I have been searching for that draws us to the Trump rallies. He doesn't have to be a Catholic theologian to connect with the Truth that is inside us, always struggling to be recognized. It is a natural thing; it is our nature. We were designed to be 'good'. Goodwill is the natural tendency to go along with what we are supposed to do, to align with what is good and proper. At it's root, it is a seeking after Truth.
A recognition and embracing of unchanging actual reality.
Americans cannot seek after and move in the direction of Truth without returning to America's foundational Christian roots. No Christian who continues in seeking after Truth can avoid looking into Catholicism, where the fullness of Truth is to be found on earth.
Whether he knows it or not, President Trump is moving toward Catholicism.
Whether we who follow him know it or not, so are we.
I only wish that could be true of Pope (Anti-Pope?) Francis and the current ruling hierarchy of Catholic Bishops.
The only thing Truth has going for Him in this world is us.
The restoration of Truth = Reality in the hearts and minds of men is now totally dependent upon you and me; if we don't do it, it won't get done.
Sign the Letter to your Bishop, and make our Church Catholic again.
Get behind President Trump, and make America Constitutional again.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
