A very long time ago, before I got smart and started putting dates of publication on everything published, here, I wrote the Hydrogen Power page. I don't even know when I wrote it, because I hadn't started putting dates on new webpages yet.
But way back then, it was possible to convert an internal combustion engine to run on hydrogen; it had been done, multiple times. The problem was, there was no place to gas them up on hydrogen.
Back in that time frame someone had done a hydrogen house, with a hydrogen furnace, water heater and range, and generator for electricity. It was all for show, because, back then, where would all that hydrogen come from?
Now it looks like Elon Musk may have done it all better, or at least the car part of it, because he uses hydrogen not to run an internal combustion engine, but to run his already well performing electric one. He threw out the battery and put in a hydrogen powered electric generator in its place. Apparently they've already got some hydrogen fueling stations in California, and it takes about five minutes to recharge a fuel cell as opposed to a minimum of one hour to recharge a battery powered Tesla.
And, since way back whenever I wrote Hydrogen Power, the only source I knew of for extracting hydrogen was water, there is a new explosive (to me) development on the scene: hydrogen being extracted from air.
Watch the video; maybe you'll be as surprised as I was, or maybe not. Ignore the "Green Hydrogen" nonsense. Hydrogen is hydrogen. There is no such thing as a greenhouse gas, and thus there is no such thing as a "green" or "green-produced" hydrogen. You can't make a greenhouse out of gas; you can only make a greenhouse out of glass, because gas is permeable, and glass is not.
Try to imagine a working greenhouse with window panes made of gas instead of glass.
However it is extracted, hydrogen is looking to be the future fuel, assuming we will all survive two more years of the Biden/Harris regime's determination to eliminate the USA as an identifiable independent sovereign nation.
No matter what, we will still need oil, but for lubrication and other oil products, rather than for fuel.
I'm having a hard time imagining what the hotrod aficionados are going to do once the internal combustion engine becomes largely obsoleted and nonoperational due to no fuel being produced any more. Will all those muscle cars become museum pieces?
How, exactly, does a back-yard mechanic soup-up an electric engine?
I don't even like the sound of them, of which there isn't any. Try to imagine the Indy 500 with nothing but a little humming sound, if any.
I'm almost moved to tears when I think of the demise of those certain sounds we all learned to recognize and love fooling around with engines. A Harley Davidson has a distinct sound all its own, and so does a late '60s early '70s Chevy small block with a performance cam in it.
Maybe Elon ought to think about incorporating some sort of old time motor sound projection into his new Tesla model H.

Never be lukewarm.
Life itself demands passion.
He who is indifferent to God has already forfeited his soul.
He who is indifferent to politics has already forfeited his liberty.
In America, religion is not mere window dressing and citizenship is not a spectator sport. Do not allow our common destiny as a whole people to just happen without your input.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

"We belong to the Church militant; and She is militant because on earth the powers of darkness are ever restless to encompass Her destruction. Not only in the far-off centuries of the early Church, but down through the ages and in this our day, the enemies of God and Christian civilization make bold to attack the Creator's supreme dominion and sacrosanct human rights." --Pope Pius XII
"It is not lawful to take the things of others to give to the poor. It is a sin worthy of punishment, not an act deserving a reward, to give away what belongs to others." --St. Francis of Assisi
