Sooner or later, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get started on the tedious tasks of correcting old errors and making this website make more overall sense. There are existing problems all over the site, navigation is confusing and there is the eventual decision to be made re changing the URL of the whole site.
First, let me list the things that need to change, whether I change the URL or not.
1. Changes requiring editing every webpage in the whole website:
2. Changes that can be applied site-wide:
Second, I'm looking at changing the site URL from
If and when I do that, I will have to go over every individual webpage, changing every occurrence of the the old URL to the new one everywhere it appears in the text. And that's about every page in the site.
A number of you have already told me you oppose changing the URL; mostly because of that, the decision has still not been made. If I change it, it will likely mean a significant drop in readership for an indeterminate amount of time. During that time, I would be doing the changes listed above. Eventually, the search engine robots would start picking up the traffic again, and with a better URL it might eventually mean a lot more traffic than would be experienced otherwise. (That's an educated guess.)
At any rate, whether changing the URL or not, once I begin this work, the site will not look too good until all the work is finished. The work will be done in between new articles and responding to commenters, and it will take a very long time. The Navigation Buttons will keep slowly disappearing from the Left Column, one or two or three at a time, until eventually they are all gone. I cannot predict how long that will take.
So this is to elicit your input. If you see anything else that you think should be changed, or you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate hearing about it now, before I start on any of this.

Does changing your URL mean whole site down time?
Date: Wed Jun 04 2014
From: Vic Biorseth
Yeah, SBI says 24 hours, could be more, could be less. I don't know if it depends on number of pages or complexity, or what; it's all automatic behind the scenes stuff, once I pull the trigger.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

"We belong to the Church militant; and She is militant because on earth the powers of darkness are ever restless to encompass Her destruction. Not only in the far-off centuries of the early Church, but down through the ages and in this our day, the enemies of God and Christian civilization make bold to attack the Creator’s supreme dominion and sacrosanct human rights.”--Pope Pius XII
