Today is the Third Sunday of Lent, and the readings are appropriate to the subject at hand.
Lesson
Lesson from the letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
Eph 5:1-9
Brethren: Be imitators of God, as very dear children and walk in love,
as Christ also loved us and delivered Himself up for us an offering and a
sacrifice to God to ascend in fragrant odor. But immorality and every
uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as
becomes saints; or obscenity or foolish talk or scurrility, which are
out of place; but rather thanksgiving. For know this and understand,
that no fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous one - for that is
idolatry - has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no
one lead you astray with empty words; for because of these things the
wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. Do not, then,
become partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are
light in the Lord. Walk, then, as children of light, for the fruit of
the light is in all goodness and justice and truth.

At that time, Jesus was casting out a devil, and the same was dumb; and
when He had cast out the devil, the dumb man spoke. And the crowds
marveled. But some of them said, By Beelzebub, the prince of devils, He
casts out devils. And others, to test Him, demanded from Him a sign from
heaven. But He, seeing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom
divided against itself is brought to desolation, and house will fall
upon house. If, then, Satan also is divided against himself, how shall
his kingdom stand? because you say that I cast out devils by Beelzebub.
Now, if I cast out devils by Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast
them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils
by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When
the strong man, fully armed, guards his courtyard, his property is
undisturbed. But if a stronger than he attacks and overcomes him, he
will take away all his weapons that he relied upon, and will divide his
spoils. He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather
with Me scatters. When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he
roams through waterless places in search of rest; and finding none, he
says, ‘I will return to my house which I left.’ And when he has come to
it, he finds the place swept. Then he goes and takes seven other spirits
more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last
state of that man becomes worse that the first. Now it came to pass as
He was saying these things, that a certain woman from the crowd lifted
up her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the
breasts that nursed You. But He said, Rather, blessed are they who hear
the word of God and keep it.

S. By the words of the Gospel may our sins be blotted out.
Children not raised as Christians will not turn out to be good Christians. Children left to their own decisions about religion will go astray. Children entrusted to evil teachers will learn evil ways. Children who come to oppose the religion of their parents will come to oppose their parents.
Your children will one day be your judges. For good or for evil.
Is America Still a Christian Nation, or Not?
Is your family still a Christian family, or not?
Is the Catholic Church still "Catholic", or not?
We recently wrote about how America's Marxocrat Party and the Francis Vatican, using Cultural Marxism's political weapon of "Diversity and Inclusiveness", are hopelessly blurring the very definitions and distinct identities of both America and the Catholic Church.
First, starting with Pope Paul VI, the increasingly corrupt Catholic Church hierarchy has been incorporating all of the Protestant heresies anathematized since Trent into the new, or Novus Ordo Mass, and setting that liturgy against the Latin Mass, dividing Catholics into new mass aficionados and now despised and demonized Latin "Trads", or Traditionalists.
Then, as noted in the recent Diversified and Transformed America we addressed the current status of Obama's evil, infamous and still ongoing "transformation of America".
From the outside looking in, it sure looks like Comrade Pope Francis and Comrade Obama, peace be upon him, were working together. They both approve of and give support to whatever each of them promotes. They appear to be a match made in hell.
Christian Nationalism: A Movement, or an Original American Nation As Constituted?
Dingbat Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla recently worried, on an MSNBC broadcast, that some Americans actually believe that their inalienable rights come from God and not from the government. How horrible. She raised the horrifying (to her) specter of "Christian Nationalism", which, of course, would oppose the nation-eliminating Globalism we suppose she looks forward to.
America's founding document, the Declaration of Independence, clearly lays out the source of America's inalienable rights to Equality, Life, Liberty and Property. We have addressed them collectively there, and individually, in Equality, Life, Liberty and Property. The words were written by Thomas Jefferson and agreed to by the representatives of the 13 Colonies, all of whom were Christian, and all of whom agreed that all men were Created equal, and endowed by their Creator with the inalienable rights. It is from those inalienable rights that Capitalism naturally arises. (Socialism is not natural, and must be imposed on citizens by government.)
That America was Christian before, during and after her founding is a simple fact of history.

Since the Reformation, however flawed the Founders may have been in their Christian Theology, they were all of one mind and in full agreement in their Christian Morality.
(Christian theology is rooted in the First (Love of God) Great Commandment, and Christian morality is rooted in the Second (Love of neighbor) Great Commandment.
Let's look at the Ten Commandments.

Catholic Counting 1. I am the Lord your God; you shall not have strange gods before me. 2. You shall not take the name of the Lord you God in vain. 3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's day. 4. Honor your father and your mother. 5. You shall not kill. 6. You shall not commit adultery. 7. You shall not steal. 8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods. |
Protestant Counting 1. I am the Lord your God; you shall not have strange gods before me. 2. You shall not make unto thee any graven image. 3. The first three (four in the Protestant counting) Commandments are the "love of God" Commandments, from which flow the Theological Law. The last seven (six in the Protestant counting) Commandments are the "love of neighbor" Commandments, from which flow the Moral Law.
We can see that Protestantism breaks the Christian counting of the first Commandment into two, and combines the 9th and 10th into one. The reason is that Protestantism kept (or put back in) the pre-Christian Jewish prohibition of "graven image" making because, until Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, no one had ever seen the face of God, and the Jews do not believe that Jesus Christ was God. Yet, Jesus Himself tells us Who He was, and is.
Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you; and have you not known me? Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also. How sayest thou, shew us the Father?--John 14:9
With that identification, man had seen the face of God, and man was then free to make icons of God and venerate them, with all veneration of the icon passing on to the One represented by the icon.
But how do the Commandments treat the argument between Socialism and Capitalism, which actually is, the argument between private ownership of property and communal ownership of property?
Implicit within Honor Thy father and Thy mother is the sacredness of the normative family, and the presumptive right of parents to first authority over their own children, and to special social protections for the family.
Implicit within Thou shalt not kill is the inalienable right of all innocent human beings to continue to live.
Implicit within Thou shalt not commit adultery is the sanctity and inviolability and protected nature of the marriage covenant, and, again, the sanctity and protected nature of the family.
Implicit within Thou shalt not steal is the inalienable right to private property: the right of an individual to actually own something.
Implicit within Thou shalt not bear false witness is the protected and sacred nature of truth, and the moral requirement to protect it and to profess it fully and without distortion.
Implicit within Thou shalt not covet is, again, the sanctity of marriage, and, again, the protected right to own private property.
You can't get around it. These are the Moral Commandments; this is Moral Law, it is the Law Of Neighbors and it is Natural Law. This is what Catholics and Protestants and even Jews hold in common.
(Note well that neither Islam nor Marxism recognize this law of neighbors or our national Judaeo-Christian morality. We cannot live as peaceful neighbors with people who intend to eventually either kill us or force their beliefs on us and rule us against our will and against our constitution.)
Our Moral Political Common Ground, Despite Our Major Theological Differences.
This is basic right and wrong. This is how all people who, rightly or wrongly, call themselves Christians or Jews are supposed to live with each other, As Neighbors, regardless of their divergent theologies and regardless of how they worship.
You don't need any fancy degree, and you don't need to be an ordained cleric or a consecrated religious to know this stuff. This is all basic, fundamental, even elementary Catholicism. All confirmed Catholics should know it, and all Protestants, of whatever denomination, should know it. This is how all Christians and Jews tell right from wrong; this is, or should be, the beginning point of American Politics.
This is, or should always be, the bedrock foundational basis for all legislated representative civil law in any Christian nation. The fully mature adult properly raised in a Western Culture Family and Religion, has recognized, experienced and embraced the spiritual aspects of the Natural Law, and has become religiously motivated to love it, obey it and pass it on to his children.
Christians and Jews just naturally obey moral laws.
And what we are looking at today is what happens after Christianity itself has been completely removed from the picture.
The second great "love of neighbor" commandment, represented by commandments 4 through 10 in the Catholic counting and 5 through 10 in the Protestant counting, are the foundation of all of American law.
Dingbat Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla fears that the "inalienable rights" for people to commit abortions and for homosexuals to marry come from government, and properly so, but are now being threatened by "Christian Nationalists" who actually believe, in this day and age, in God.
She doesn't know the natural law because she doesn't know that God created nature. She has no sensus fidei; she does not recognize any objective truth that is independent of the mind of man. Everything is subjective for her; subject to the mind of man.
She doesn't know simple right from wrong, or truth from unreality.
Subjects like abortion, homosexuality and marriage are not listed among the limited and enuerated powers of federal government, and so no branch of federal government may legally address them. The fact that they did it anyway only proves that they do not feel the least bit constrained by the constitution they swore in their meaningless oaths of office to uphold.
That's a sampling of the unconstitutional rights created by government.
Look at the unconstitutional "inalienable rights born of government" sponsored today, at the federal level, by Criminal Joe Biden and his Marxocrat Party:

These all form the dividing line separating once Christian America from current almost unidentifiable perverted and transformed America.
These two divisions are at irreconcilable war with each other.
Christian Nationalism is not a "movement"; it is statement of fact.
America is still Christian; America is still a nation.
There is nothing wrong and everything right with Nationalism that is not associated with any form of Marxism or Socialism.
There is everything right with a nation that calls itself Christian.
I just wish America did that more worthily today.
The only thing Truth has going for Him in this world is us.
The restoration of Truth = Reality in the hearts and minds of men is now totally dependent upon you and me; if we don't do it, it won't get done.
