Here, the authors of the American Declaration of Independence established four, unalienable, God-given, Natural Law human rights, as a purpose-for-being and the very foundation stone of an entirely new form of government.
What did the authors mean by "Liberty"?
What they meant was the Christian understanding of Freedom, relying on Scripture:
In the Christian understanding, Freedom (Liberty) involves being freed of the "Old Law", i.e., circumcision, Kosher laws, ritual cleansing, Sabbaths and New Moons. In initiation into the Christian community, the rite of Circumcision was replaced by Baptism, both for newborns and for new converts of any age.
But more important than that, to the new nation of America, was the Christian notion of freedom from sin, which is always, always, enslaving. To be free was to be liberated from sin; to be a slave to Christ was to cooperate with the Grace given to achieve self-mastery. The habitual practice of the virtuous life and the avoidance of vice is the centerpiece of Civilized Morality.
But how did all this translate into a right in civil law? What does Liberty mean in relationship to government?
Self-governing, in other words. Before a nation can truly be a self-governing nation with no need of any human sovereign, the individual citizens must predominantly be self-governing individuals. That means they must be virtuous, or "good" citizens, who will willingly live within the law, with little need for police.
Good Christians happily obey the law, so long as it is moral law.
The less virtuous a people are, in the Judaeo-Christian sense of that word, the more in need of government and police they must be. Only a virtuous people may be self governing, just as only the virtuous individual citizen may be most properly self-governing, and a blessing rather than a curse to his neighbors.
America was Constituted to be a nation in which,
And that worked fine for our first hundred years or so; not so much today. When the people elect immoral men, they may expect the legislation of immoral law. What is worse, when judges and justices are or become immoral, including especially Supreme Court Justices, immoral law may be "legislated" from the bench, as has been done, over and over again. Unconstitutional, of course, in every instance. But unresisted and left to stand by the other two supposedly co-equal branches of government, as if they could do nothing about it.
Proving, again and again, that our highest elected government officials in the federal government are, in their majority, either evil, or stupid.
If you go back and study the advance of any particular immorality that has become standardized and acculturated into American society you will see that it came from the top down, not the bottom up. It was first made legal, unconstitutionally. Then it was transformed into a legal right, again, unconstitutionally. Making something legal recruits more and more participants. If it's legal, it can't be bad.
Note well that American Liberty depends upon Christian Morality. No other form of morality will do. The nation is designed around it, by men who lived it. No other religion contains the same Commandments, the same Virtues, the same prohibitions, the same Natural Law.
To voluntarily and willingly live within moral law is to be a moral person. Non-Christians of any variety have always been welcome in America, so long as they can abide by the Constitution as written. If they cannot or will not do that, then they can never hope to assimilate into the American culture. They will tend, rather, to try to modify the whole American culture to "assimilate" itself to their alien or immoral ways of thinking.
And that is what is happening, because we are allowing it.
We the People are being modified for the worse.
This American concept stands opposed to the Marxist interpretation of Liberty, which is, in a nutshell:
The problem with that is, of course, that the deeper any Socialist society sinks into Communism, the less "voluntary" cooperation there is. And, of course, as has been proven over and over and over again, top-down, state-driven economies always fail. Communism is, always was and always will be quite impossible.
Trying to force-fit it and make it work produced the infamous Gulags of the Soviet Union, the Death Camps of Germany, and unrelenting horrors on whole populations all over the world.
Marxism opposes religion in general and Christianity in particular. Therefor, all Marxist governments, from the mildest Social-Democracies to the most rabidly Communist dictatorships, tend to grow vicious rather than virtuous populations over time. People incapable of self-governing, and in need of heavy handed government and a strong police force.
The need to keep unruly people in line in Marxist lands has even involved state-sponsored terror campaigns, against their own people. Some of these even involved territorial mass exterminations, through mass starvation, deprivation and murder, as was done in the Ukraine.
The American concept also stands opposed to the Islamic interpretation of Liberty, which is, in a nutshell:
Islamic law, or Sharia law, in most instances is too brutal, cruel and unjust for the typical Western mind to even conceive. Most, upon learning about it, don't believe it.
Islamic law stands absolutely and totally opposed to every element of the American Constitution. It opposes not only Freedom of Religion, but every single right guaranteed in the whole Bill Of Rights, and all the rest of the Constitution.
In point of fact, Islam denies all law other than Islamic law. Islam is a strict theocracy. It is both religion and government. Islam will tolerate no other religion, no other government and no other form of law.
If you don't believe it, read the Koran.
Liberty, as the Constitutionally Protected Civil Right of Citizens:
May God Bless Constitutional America.

Never be lukewarm.
Life itself demands passion.
He who is indifferent to God has already forfeited his soul.
He who is indifferent to politics has already forfeited his liberty.
In America, religion is not mere window dressing and citizenship is not a spectator sport.
Do not allow our common destiny as a whole people to just happen without your input.
Get in the fight! Engage!
Seek the Truth; find the Way; live the Life; please God, and live forever.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Jesus Christ; Matt 7:13-15
The Purpose of this grouping of articles is to highlight the absolutely unique political organization and therefore unique politics of the United States of America.
Christian American Politics Pages
American Politics differ from the politics of all other nations because the USA is designed to have no sovereign ruler, and no sovereign government, in the most accepted meaning of the word "Sovereign". The American Constitution itself is the only Sovereign. It provides the supreme law of the land, and the full operating instructions for the government. The representative and temporary government acts in unison with the People to make the Constitution work.
The Darkness and Depression that always accompany rejection of God. "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full."-John 15:11. Departing from Jesus always brings on darkness and depression.
On the Inspired, Brilliant Republic of the Unique and Incomparable USA. The inspired, ingenuous and seemingly miraculously conceived concept and design of the word's first anti-tyrannical-government government.
God, Nature and the USA. The unique relationship between God, the Author of Nature, and the "Natural" political organization of the USA, as Declared and as Constituted.
Anti-God, Anti-Nature and Anti-USA. Breaking America's relationship with God and perverting man's view of Nature, first, in the Anti-USA Agenda of the Left.
Restoring USA: The simple (but difficult) task before our new President. Generations of unresisted Leftist damage and culture-rot cloud the simple task of restoring the original idea of the USA.
Ecumenical America: Christian Ecumenism's Last Best Hope. The Reformation split us apart; the Sons of Liberty and the Continental Congress sought to bring us back together.
Equality: The American versus the Marxist and Islamic Interpretations. The Equality of our Declaration is not the same as Socialist Equality, and it stands opposed to Islamic Domination.
Life: The American versus the Marxist and Islamic Interpretations. The "Life" in our Declaration is opposed to the pure utilitarianism of Socialism and the murderous domination of Islam.
Liberty: The American versus the Marxist and Islamic Interpretations. The "Liberty" in our Declaration is opposed to the pure social-sameness of Socialism and the absolute domination of Islam.
Pursuit Of Happiness: As in America, versus under Marxism or under Islam. The "Pursuit Of Happiness" in our Declaration as compared to the "Happiness" of the Socialist Collective, and the "Happy Sadistic Domination" of Islam.
Returning to American Ecumenism: the First Step in National Salvation. American Ecumenism, among the citizenry, may be the last "Big" hope the world has for Christian Ecumenism.
Reform Islam? How, exactly? Can you rewrite the Koran? Seeking out "Moderate Moslems" who will "Reform Islam" is a fool's errand. Islam is irreformable.
Reform Marxism? No way. No part of Marxism is useful to America. Trying to Reform Marxism is a fool's errand. Marxist ideology of Revolution assumes a priori that whatever institution exists needs to be destroyed.
Creating Pre-Revolutionary Chaos: Disorder masked as a "New Order". Revolutionaries must upset the existing order, while convincing the victim population that all the chaos they see is not of their doing.
On the hidden Marxist Injustice in "Social Justice" and "Democracy". And the Injustice in the sneaky, underhanded psychological blending of Communism with Christianity.
Failure to Anathematize anyone always leads to being Anathematized ourselves. We ought to just say "Let us be Anathema" the minute we stop shutting out mortal enemies of the Church and mortal enemies of the Nation.
"We belong to the Church militant; and She is militant because on earth the powers of darkness are ever restless to encompass Her destruction. Not only in the far-off centuries of the early Church, but down through the ages and in this our day, the enemies of God and Christian civilization make bold to attack the Creator’s supreme dominion and sacrosanct human rights.”--Pope Pius XII
"It is not lawful to take the things of others to give to the poor. It is a sin worthy of punishment, not an act deserving a reward, to give away what belongs to others."--St. Francis of Assisi
Truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.—Winston Churchill
The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.—Ayn Rand
