(70th anniversary of D-Day. Bless them all.)
Evil Never Really Compromises. At each compromise with evil, Good takes a step backward. Every single time. That is the one principle all true Men of Principle should never forget. Any supposed "compromise" with evil, at the very least, accommodates evil at the expense of Good.
Never forget that.
History shows how evil Marxists, from Hegel to Alinsky have proved this principle. Marxists have demonstrated how evil advances best against Good, less with the battle axe of Revolution, than with a more gradual advance, step by step, with one little accommodation at a time. Advancement so slow as to be imperceptible. Evil progressively advances because men of good will do not know - they have either forgotten or they never learned - the simple fact that evil never really compromises. Evil never, ever, yields an inch of ground.
Hereinafter I will refer to any attempted compromise with evil as an accommodation, pure and simple, because that is always what it is.
William F. Buckley Jr. was the hero of my youth. Reading Buckley and Friedrich Hayek, predominantly, is what shaped my own American political conservatism. Nevertheless, Buckley's advice for voting, I now know, was flawed, as much as I hate to point that out. It needs to be pointed out.
Buckley's strong advice, which once upon a time I clung to myself, was to Always vote for the most conservative candidate who can win. As much as I love Buckley and revere his memory, I now must emphatically state that his voting advice is another accommodation of evil.
We should replace this voting advice with Always vote your Principles, and this is being written to explain why.
The only time that Buckley's voting advice is even partially good is in general or final elections, in which the choice is narrowed to two and only two candidates, and there are no other choices. Then, you must vote for the most conservative of the two, regardless of any early prognostications regarding who might win and who might lose. And that means, for all real men of principle, that you absolutely must vote, even if you have to hold your nose while you do it.
Primary or candidate-selecting elections are far, far more important, and these are the elections in which Buckley's advice may become just another compromise of good principle. Trying to fathom which of several conservative candidates might be able to win against whatever liberal candidates they might have to run against is, in and of itself, a softening of Principle, threatening to become another accommodation with evil.
A complicating factor involves the historical fact of exceptionally low voter turnout for primary elections, which are incredibly more important than the later general elections, because this is where the final candidates are chosen.
A history of primary election voter turnouts that are radically lower than general election voter turnouts indicates, to me, an exceptionally low number of voters of high principle, or, an exceptionally high number of voters of very low intellect. Or both.
For what other possible reason would any voter bypass, sit out and ignore a primary election and then rush to vote in the resulting general election? Obviously, he didn't think choosing his own preferred candidate was particularly important, which doesn't exactly make him the sharpest tack in the box.
Question, for any conservative voter who bitched about having the opposing Party choose his supposedly conservative candidate for him: Did you even bother to vote in the primary election?
"Judgmentalism" is demonized to weaken or eliminate the judgment of evil. Those who would suppress good adult judgment love to quote Mattew 7:1, where the Lord says "Judge not lest ye be judged." But they never go any farther than that one line, which, if taken alone, would be better stated "Judge not incorrectly, lest ye be judged incorrectly." Let's look at the whole chapter to put it into context.
Now, how is the reader of this Scripture to do all these things, to be aware of false prophets, or "know them by their fruits", or avoid the wide easy path in preference to the narrow difficult path, in the absence of the application of good judgment? In context, these things demand good judgment. It says in verse 2 "For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get." I take that as a severe warning to judge correctly.
Luke 6:37 says " "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;" which many haters of just judgment take to be an absolute prohibition of the exercise of adult judgment. I take it to be a prohibition of the exercise of excessive or harsh judgment, not the elimination of it.
In Luke 7:43, He told Simon "You have judged rightly." In Luke 12:57 He admonishes us "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?" In John 7:24 He tells us to judge, when He says "Do not judge by appearances, but judge rightly."
Proud of my own judgmentalism, I promote, sponsor and champion the advancement of good judgmentalism throughout the population. Final judgement, of course, belongs to the Lord alone. But here in this life, the difference between competent adults and children, and the difference between competent adults and incompetent adults, is the level of adult judgement attained.
I pray the Lord to increase my judgment, I intend to always use it, and I sincerely hope the evil one dosen't like it.
Conservative Americans have been becoming more and more acutely aware of the piss-poor quantities and qualities of "conservative" candidates for office supported by the Republicrat Party, mostly since the elections leading up to the 2008 disaster. The 2012 elections were even worse. The Republicrats, acting on the advice of the Marxocrats, always put forth candidates who will compromise on principle and accommodate evil. But this is only speaking of public awareness of the problem; the problem itself is not new.
We know, because it is obvious, that the once Democrat - now Marxocrat Party is absolutely Marxist in its guiding principles. They embrace every part of Marxist ideology, including statism, collectivism, redistributionism, control or suppression of private enterprise, price controls, wage controls, labor controls, government by administration rather than constitution, suppression of true religion, promotion of immorality, opposition to family authority, control of education, control of press, control of speech, gun control, centralizing of all authority and power, and on, and on, and on.
We now know, or should know, that the once Republican - now Republicrat Party lost its soul and went to the dark side a long time ago. The Republicrat Party has become a semi-private enterprise unto itself, devoid of principles. It's purpose for being is to raise money, promote itself, protect its loyal members and maintain membership in the "old boy's club" of Washington Elites and High Society predominantly run by the Marxocrats.
They have joined the Marxocrats at the dumb voter feeding trough kept full by Earmarks and Pork Barrel, I'll scratch your back you scratch my back politicking. It doesn't even matter to them which Party is in power; they still feel secure in their surroundings. It has become more like a lucrative private business than a political process.
Each member is in it strictly for himself, and what he can get out of it.
The only exceptions are those Tea Party candidates who somehow managed to be elected, and once elected, they become subject to being corrupted by the near totally corrupted system they just entered. Now that they are forced into the close company of so many dogs, they may be expected to pick up some fleas.
Our corrupted political Parties exacerbate the problems attendant to William F. Buckley Jr.'s advice to "Always vote for the most conservative candidate who can win". Neither of the two major American political Parties stands on American principles, or on any principles, other than Marxist principles. The Marxocrat Party at least stands on Marxist Principles; even if they are all anti-American principles, at least they are principles.
The Republicrat Party stands for nothing at all, other than self preservation. They are unprincipled. So even the word conservative is meaningless to them. They join with the Marxocrats to form the big government club. Want to join them? Want their support? You are either in the big government club, or not. You either look like you will support the club, or you do not. That's all any of them really care about. Maintaining the status quo. So Buckley's advice fails with them because they only act conservative before certain audiences, or at certain times, strictly for political reasons. But they are not conservatives; they are Republicrats.
Meanwhile, evil steadily advances.
Once upon a time, and not that long ago, I opposed third Parties as election losers, and supported the notion of outlawing all but two political Parties in America, so that we would always have candidates and issues decided by obvious majorities, rather than simply the largest fraction of the votes, which would mean that a majority of the voters voted against the winner. As happened with the election of Jiminy Carter, and the election of Billary Clinton. Twice.
Now, because they are so corrupt, I favor outlawing political Parties altogether, as stated in No Party America. It may be that any political Party that lives long enough is subject to the same or other sorts of eventual corruption. While we cannot legally outlaw any political Party any more than we can outlaw freedom of assembly or freedom of association, there is nothing in the Constitution requiring us to have our political candidates chosen for us by any political Party.
No political Party is named anywhere in the Constitution. What can be outlawed is any non-government convention that can force candidates on or off of American government election ballots. America has no need of any Republican Convention or any Democrat Convention. In primary elections, we have no need of a Democrat Party ballot or a Republican Party ballot. Cities, Counties, States and Regions should be able to develop their own processes for selecting candidates for political office without the involvement of any political Party.
Candidates should run strictly on principles, not Party affiliation.
Conservative Spokesmen who call the Republicrat Party to task for failing to articulate a good conservative message and formulate a good conservative plan of action are flogging a dead horse. The Republicrat Party cannot articulate a good conservative message because they don't have one. They are unprincipled. The only political principle they will work and fight for is Republicrat Party job security. That's it.
Just like their buddies in the Marxocrat Party, they look to winning the next election. Failing that, they may become a lobbyist or even an executive in some crony-capitalist firm, or, accept a professorship or important chair in some Marxified university, or, become a big-shot journalist in some Marxified news network, or, a highly paid consultant on some political campaign, or, make megabucks through speaking engagements, etc. Until another election opportunity presents itself. But the first goal, of course, is to not lose office in the first place. They may be very well paid by our tax dollars, but their real employer to whom they owe sole allegiance is the Republicrat Party.
That's just the way it is.
Many Conservative Spokesmen actually contribute mightily to more accommodations of evil by actually supporting the unprincipled Republicrat agenda against actual, good, true conservative candidates. (See This Christian Nation.) They've done it again and again. They either jump on the Marxocrat and Republicrat bandwagon calling for the most conservative candidate to drop out of the race, or they damn him or her with faint praise.
Many good candidates could have won with their strong support.
But the Marxocrats demonize the conservative candidate, the Republicrats declare that the conservative candidate has "no chance" and the SLIMC1 jumps up and down on the candidate with both feet, and finally the supposedly best and brightest from among public Conservative Spokesmen just drop the best candidate like a hot potato. And the best conservative candidate has lost before the fight has begun. Another little accommodation.
The Republicrat Party actually spends Republicrat Party money to politically defeat the best conservative candidates in political races. And all too often the biggest independent public Conservative Spokesmen seem to help out in that defeat, when they and they alone, with their vast audiences, could make the effort to turn that situation around and the conservative candidate could actually win. But no. They, too, are under the spell of the lying propagandist media. The Marxocrat-controlled media lie that this candidate has no possible chance of winning is thus made into a self fulfilling prophesy, and the best candidate loses again, for lack of principled support.
But it even gets worse when you look at social issues. This is where Buckley's advice is literally killing America, and not so gradually any more. How often have your heard some supposedly conservative spokesman, pundit, commentator or leader of any kind recommend a candidate or campaign to not run on the abortion issue, or the homosexual marriage issue, because "those social issues are losing issues"?
That's a lie.
I feel it in my bones. I wish I could bet money on it, and prove it. If we could hold a national election with mandatory voting, with no candidates and no issues, with only one question, which would be:
The no votes would win. Hands down. By a significant margin.
Note well how, in virtually every instance, the one recommending not running on the abortion issue, for instance, will preface his recommendation by saying something like,
He's a liar. He'll tell the same lie about his personal views on homosexual marriage, just before recommending the conservatives not run on that issue. It's a losing issue, he'll say. It's just another lie, among the many.
The so-called social issues are where Marxism and evil in general make their greatest gains through pushing Buckley's advice to Always vote for the most conservative candidate who can win. Marxism and evil in general have done an excellent job of convincing everyone that high morality is always a losing political argument. Sometimes it seems to me that just about everyone everywhere believes it.
I do not believe it. I never did. If indeed it is true, then American no longer deserves to survive.
But let's just say that it's true, just for grins and giggles. How did it ever come to be true?
Note how adult judgment, now successfully popularly demonized as the evil of judgmentalism, never even enters the political picture. If proper judgment were the primary player here, as it always was in bygone eras, all of these complex issues would be made a lot more simple. After all, a thing is either right, or it is wrong.
That is the key.
Knowledge of right from wrong equals knowledge of the will of God. That knowledge - the discernment of God's will - is the main target of the evil one. You're not supposed to think about it. The plan is to distract you with something attractive, while whispering lies about the evils of judgmentalism.
Why don't you leave the homosexuals alone, the Marxocrats persistently ask. But we do leave them alone. It is they who will not leave us alone. There is nothing in the constitution addressing homosexuality, so it is not subject to federal law, one way or another. It is and always was a matter of local community standards. Why do we all even have to know that they are homosexuals? why do they absolutely insist that we all know that?
Think about that question.
From among all of the sexual perversions and all of the sexual sins and impurities, why do homosexuals alone absolutely insist that everyone everywhere know that they are homosexuals? We addressed this more heavily in Farewell America, so we don't need to do that again here. But it is very important to understand how we got here.
One little accommodation at a time.
Evil is winning here, one little accommodation at a time.
Many Conservative Spokesmen further unknowingly contribute to the accommodation of evil by falling into the evil collectivist trap of seeking to "Bring Us All Together" to unite in common cause. But, we do not "all" have a common cause. In fact, some of us might like to kill or subordinate all the rest of us. We do not "all" share the same sense of right and wrong.
Remember, when the angel appeared to the shepherds near Bethlehem, he did not say Peace to all mankind, but rather, Peace to those on whom His favor rests. Evil was afoot in the world then, and evil remains afoot in the world today. We cannot gather with evil and remain good.
This is a time of dividing. See the Winnowing Pages. Only after using our God-given judgmentalism properly in the recognition of what is evil among us, and divided it out, may we more properly proceed to gather with the good. And there is only one group that we may gather with for the good of the nation, that being the various kinds of Christians and Jews who recognize and abide by the Uniting Commandments of God. That was, after all, the founding ethos of America, and it remains, after all, the basis of our representative legislated civil law.
I submit that if we no longer have a common ethos, then we no longer have a nation worthy of remaining in existence.
History shows that we do not need any gigantic majority to win elections. What we need is a truly committed and determined third. It can be less than a third if it is even more committed and even more determined.
That's my take on our dire situation. What's yours?

Nicely written essay. And we sit around here wondering why people in far away lands, (Iran), chant publicly, in unison, "America is bad, America is bad, America is bad". What ever gives them that idea? How do we honestly defend ourselves against this charge? I mean just look at this despicable creation we are a part of. How do we, Americans, look others in the face, and say "Come with us...we are the good guys".
Archbishop Fulton Sheen stated, America lost it's decency when we dropped the atomic bombs on Japan.

We do appear to be pretty bad, but I don't think Hiroshima or Nagasaki were any particular turning point from decency. The bombs ended the war in the Pacific, believe it or not, with a minimum of lives lost. We discussed the decision in the Necessity of War page, and perhaps more fully in a comment-dialogue after the MEJTML page.

When someone says something like, “Personally, I'm opposed to abortion, but that's just my personal opinion” that person is probably not a liar. That person, like most others, is probably reflexively repeating slogans that have been repeated often enough to be now passed off as "truth". The reason for this is that these people have been deceived. They have all been taught a lie.
The lie is that truth is relative. This was noticed way back in 1987 in Alan Bloom’s book “The Closing of the American Mind”. Bloom wrote on page 25: “There is one thing a professor can be absolutely certain of: almost every student entering the university believes, or says he believes, that truth is relative. If this belief is put to the test, one can count on the students’ reaction: they will be uncomprehending. That anyone should regard the proposition as not self-evident astonishes them, as though he were calling into question 2+2+4.”
The belief that truth is relative results in statements such as: “There is no truth.” “All truth is relative.” “It’s true for you but not for me.” And the inevitable: “You shouldn't judge.”
However, all these statements violate the Law of Non-Contradiction, which states:“Opposite ideas cannot both be true at the same time in the same sense." For example: The earth cannot be both round and not round at the same time in the same sense. A cup of coffee cannot be both hot and cold at the same time in the same sense. Moral claims cannot both be true and not true at the same time in the same sense. Jesus cannot have been resurrected from the dead and not have been resurrected at the same time in the same sense. God cannot exist and not exist at the same time in the same sense.
All statements that claim relativism violate the Law of Non-Contradiction. They are self-defeating. All are easily shown to be false (and will produce the “uncomprehending” students in Bloom’s book) by simply taking the statement and applying the claim to itself. For example:
“There is no truth.”
“IS THAT TRUE?”
“All truth is relative.”
“IS THAT A RELATIVE TRUTH?”
“It’s true for you, but not for me.”
“IS THAT TRUE FOR EVERYBODY?”
Their trump card to play at this time will inevitably be:
“You shouldn’t judge.”
“ISN’T THAT A JUDGEMENT?”
A related and very popular statement these days is:
“There is no truth outside of science.”
“WHAT SCIENCE EXPERIMENT SHOWS THAT TO BE TRUE?”
All statements that violate the Law of Non-Contradiction are self-defeating and CANNOT BE TRUE.
Truth is objective and thus absolute, not subjective and relative. This means that regardless of how I feel about them, how vigorously I might deny them, it does not alter the truth of objective truths.
Here is truth on Truth:
Contrary beliefs are possible, but contrary truths are not possible.
You can believe everything is true, but everything cannot be true. Objective truth cannot be denied without first being affirmed.
Note that Allan Bloom was describing not the universities but the students who were the product of the American public school system. We are now 26 public school graduating classes removed from Bloom’s book. Students from 20 of those graduating years have been now teaching professors in our universities.

Absolutely correct, and very well stated!
But I want the adversaries of Truth to come to it on their own. The true champions of falsehoods, knowingly or not, seldom if ever even read opposing viewpoints all the way through if they are just strings of facts or statements of truisms.
That's why I rhetorically "slap" them by calling their position a lie, and them a liar. It gets their attention. All over this site you will see places where I call some error a lie, and some champion or speaker a liar, because I want them to come out with guns blazing. I'm just a coming-at-you combative kind of guy.
There are few things in life more insufferable than a condescending super-intellectual effete snob who is certain of his position, when his position is clearly, obviously, glaringly and quite simply wrong. So I don't want to just point it out to them; I want to rub their noses in it.
When a Lou Dobbs, for instance, steps before the cameras or takes to the microphone and pronounces (paraphrasing) something like:
then I am going to call that statement a lie, and I am going to call Lou Dobbs a liar, and I may even throw in adjectives like "flagrant" and "categorical".
I would like to see him (or anyone) produce the evidence that the American citizenry loves abortion as much as he does. And if he doesn't love abortion, he's got a damned funny way of showing it.
How could he publicly campaign for or against anything that is against his personal principles, unless he were not truly a man of principle, and might even be completely devoid of principles?
That's just the kind of truth warrior I am.
Look how many of our supposed intellectual elites are duped, to some degree, by the open fraud of Marxism.
The problem you quite correctly point out is that multiple generations have now been educated in error, and they firmly believe things that are simply not true. The question that keeps nagging at me regards whether the nation has time to re-educate them properly. I think not.
So I slap them, to get their attention.

One would think you were writing about Virginia your expository is so relevant to our political situation. Tea Party people nominated two wonderful candidates last year for Governor and Lt. Governor and the establishment Republicans pulled the rug out from under them, allowing radical Democrats, who immediately undid as many of the small steps toward decency that had been achieved under the previous administration, to win the positions.
Now, we are being urged to support the Republicrat who just got nominated at our state convention Saturday. Every step is a toward socialism and/or evil.
Are you proposing a third party?

It's happening all over the country; the problem is with the whole national Republicrat Party. I wrote about it many times, but the one that sticks in my memory the most is in This Christian Nation. What's really disgusting is how so many leading "conservative" commentators helped that gate-keeping process along! Christine O'Donnel and Todd Akin are the main ones I can't get over, because they could have won.
No, what I'm proposing is No Party. There are no political Party names written into the Constitution. Why do we allow political Parties to determine who our candidates are? I see no constitutional reason for us to by subjected to two gigantic, and several lesser, Political Conventions from which will emerge nothing but "Party Favorites" to run for office, when the office is supposed to be representative of us, not any Political Parties.
I would be a very happy man if we could somehow destroy both Parties and the whole Party process.

This is John this time, not Doug!
Sometimes a person needs a slap upside the head and sometimes a person needs a gentle, respectful turn of a phrase. We would make make a formidable evangelical team: My "good disciple" to your "bad disciple". In the end however, we can lead others only so far to the Truth. After that we must allow the Holy Spirit do the work.
Keep on, Brother! You have no idea how much your words inspire.

Please accept my apologies; I don't know why I called you Doug. (But I am getting old, you know.)
Yes, the Lord needs all sorts of workers in the vineyard; thank you for the words of encouragement. You and others may not know how you give me the courage to stay the course, especially in those times when the situation just looks so hopeless. And then it gets worse. And then it just gets worse.
It is good to know others are in the fight, too. We fight for each other. And, we are not alone. We are on the right side, for Truth will win in the end.
