Definition of Treason: The offense of betraying one's country or sovereign ruler to an enemy, or, the attempt to harm, kill or overthrow the sovereign ruler.
Before the birth of America, all sovereign rulers were men. (Or women.) The law rested in some person(s), who made the law, controlled the law, or actually was (were) the law. All subjects - all citizens who were subject to the sovereign ruler - were expected to show allegiance to the sovereign government, and all officers or officials of the government swore formal oaths of allegiance to the sovereign ruler and his government. Violations of that oath constituted treason, which was most usually a capital crime.
This continued after the age of monarchy; various Democratic / Republican forms of government continued to be governments of men, in which someone in the government was above the law, immune to parts of the law, or actually constituted the source of the law, and thus was impervious to it. In every nation on earth, whatever form of government they have, the offense of treason is recognized as defined above.
The birth of America changed all that. America was Constituted to be a nation of laws, not of men. The Constitution, declared to be the supreme law of the land, was the only sovereign. In America, all citizens stand equal before the law. The President, and his Cabinet, are not the sovereign. The Senate is not the sovereign. The House is not the sovereign. The Supreme Court is not the sovereign. All of them together are not the sovereign. The Constitution is the sovereign, and all of them are subject to it, and all of them stand equal to you and me before it. No one is above the law.
Congresses, Presidents and Justices come and go; government administrations come and go, but the Constitution remains. The Supreme Law is fixed, and it is the only American sovereign. By design.
In America, every President, every Vice President, every Cabinet Officer, every Senator, every Representative, every Supreme Court Justice, and many lesser officers, upon taking office, puts his hand on Scripture and swears in a solemn oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution. Not any man; not any government. The law.
Every member of the American armed forces, both officers and enlisted, swears to a similar oath of allegiance, and not the the land; not to the people; not to the country; not to any man; but, again, to the Constitution. For the Constitution is the country. Without it, we are nothing. The Constitution, and the Constitution alone, is our sovereign ruler.
I submit that a violation of that oath is an act of treason.
Who among us recognizes that fact today?
The vital importance of it is lost on most of us today. The Constitution is the only thing that protects the American citizen from his own government. It is the only thing that limits and constrains government in favor of liberty. Without it, we descend into tyranny, as so many other governments have done. The Constitution puts a solid concrete foundation under the wonderful idea that actually is America.
Looking at the Constitution, which any eighth grader should be able to read and understand, we see it violated daily by our own sitting government, all three branches. And nothing is done about it.
Just taking Obamacare as one example among many, the whole law is unconstitutional on its face, in multiple ways, besides being simply out of the constitutionally defined legal scope of the Constitution itself. What does that tell us?
Every Senator and every Representative who voted for it violated his oath of office to do so. The President who signed it violated his oath of office to do so. Every Supreme Court Justice who voted to approve it violated his oath of office to do so. And yet it stands.
John Boehner and the Republicrat Party violated their oaths of office by refusing to resist any part of this high treason, and taking impeachment off the table.
Every one of them is impeachable, at the very least.
The Constitution is now toast.
The only thing that has not changed is the definition of treason. Any act aimed at harming, killing or overthrowing the sovereign - in this case, the Constitution - is an act of treason.
That's the way I see it.

Never be lukewarm.
Life itself demands passion.
He who is indifferent to God has already forfeited his soul.
He who is indifferent to politics has already forfeited his liberty.
In America, religion is not mere window dressing and citizenship is not a spectator sport. Do not allow our common destiny as a whole people to just happen without your input.
Seek the Truth; find the Way; live the Life; please God, and live forever.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
