Not to speak is to speak. We have said it many times in many ways in this website. There are many situations in which holding your tongue is not only speaking, not only wrong, but sinful; and not only sinful, but treacherous. There is a line in Kipling's poem, IF, as follows:
that begins to illustrate the point. If you are the only one in a classroom, or a lecture hall, or an audience, or a laboratory, or even at a dinner table, who immediately recognizes the the error in a position everyone else present supports, then and there, by your own silence, do you support, sustain and promote error. And the error grows. With your help. You become a participant in error and falsehood.
Forget intentions. Forget peace and tranquility. Concentrate on Truth. Truth either exists, or He does not.
Scripture is loaded down with metaphors on professing the truth. Hiding a light under a bushel; placing a light on a lamp-stand; shining a light in the darkness; the "shining city on a hill"; Jesus coming to bring light; and many, many more.
It's risky business, speaking the truth when seemingly the whole world doesn't want to hear it. But that is what you, personally, are called to do. We are not supposed to be timid about it, and we are not supposed to be silent about it. It is easier, more comfortable and safer all around, in this life, to just recognize the truth, personally, and just go on about our business.
But then - we are not supposed to comfortable and safe. This life is not all there is. Your personal judgment is coming, and you know not the hour nor the day. If you want everlasting comfort and safety, then you had better be prepared for discomfort and danger in this temporary life.
Look at what Jesus willingly suffered for the sake of Truth. To show you the Way. Where was His comfort and His safety in this life?
Knowing the truth and not professing it aloud is keeping it secret; truth is not supposed to be secret, or the property of a privileged few. That is "hiding your light under a bushel". Everyone - every human being - has an inalienable right to know the truth. You have no right to suppress it. You have an obligation to profess it.
What prompted this page was the completion of another batch of webpages in this site, converting from the old Thinking-Catholic-Strategic-Center.com to the new CatholicAmericanThinker.com website name. These are the pages that deal primarily with the pseudo-science Hayek called Scientism, to differentiate it from Science, the real thing. Having gone over everything in this right-column group of linked pages, I had to re-read them all as I went through them.
And what strikes me about scientism is how, in a really brief number of generations, utter falsehood, so clear and obvious on its face, could be so universally accepted as true by nearly the whole world, simply because - it is universally accepted by nearly the whole world.
Note well that acceptance - even universal acceptance - is not scientific evidence. Not even close.
It's pure materialism, they say. Material is natural; there is no such thing as the extra-natural or the super-natural. There is only material. We debunk that with the Reason Versus Material argument, but rather than agreeing with that reasonable position, they shut up. Lest they accidentally speak truth out loud.
Truth is what we determine it is, using our intellect, and our scientific method, they say. We debunk that with the Objective Reality argument, but again, they just shut up about it. Change the subject.
You cannot materially prove an immaterial God, they say. We offer Aquinas' five evidences in the Faith Versus Atheism argument, and, yes, once again, they shut up, for they have no such argument supporting atheism.
They are as weak in their faith in their religion of Materialism as so many believers are in Judeo-Christian faith, as evidenced by their silence when questioned. Yet lie after lie after lie are universally adopted, guiding whole nations and even the world economy into grievous error. And this is due less to evidence than to silence.
A classic example is the anthropomorphic global warming hoax. Not only is global warming not caused by man, but the globe is not even warming. Yet nearly the whole world believes that it is warming, and that man is causing it.
These Scientism Pages represent my contribution to stopping it.

A great message as usual. I was reminded of a video from Church Militant titled Models of Faith. Two Irish brothers and Priests spoke about how the faith of Ireland was on a lifeline. The laymen know little to nothing about their faith. They can't say the rosary and are taught that confrontation is a big sin. That's a big one!-no arguing allowed-only hugs I suppose. Much of what I notice on Facebook. There are so many denominations and they're hostile to Catholics. Their hope? Wait for Mary's Immaculate Heart to Triumph.
It was very sad and heartbreaking to listen to. Apathy can cause such great damage.

I remember seeing that same video. I went looking for it and found it; here it is, for those who haven't seen it:
It appears to me that that is the way the whole world is heading, due, more than anything else, to a lack of good Catholic teaching, and a lack of strong Bishops who openly challenge falsehood right out in the open public square.
I think of Truth as an anchor, holding a small boat still out on a great lake. Every error or untruth that is either accepted, or just allowed to go by without challenge, is one crank of the winch to lift that anchor a little. At some point, after enough cranks, the anchor is no longer on the bottom, and the boat is being directed by the random winds and currents on the lake.
Who has drifted the farthest, so far? Ireland, or the USA?
I really can't tell.

Never be lukewarm.
Life itself demands passion.
He who is indifferent to God has already forfeited his soul.
He who is indifferent to politics has already forfeited his liberty.
In America, religion is not mere window dressing and citizenship is not a spectator sport.
Do not allow our common destiny as a whole people to just happen without your input.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Jesus Christ; Matt 7:13-15
The Purpose of this grouping of links is to highlight pseudo-science topics with nothing behind them other than broad consensus, described by F. A. Hayek as Scientism.
The Scientism Pages.
Describing the abandonment of the scientific method in favor of "Democracy in Science", meaning, science done by gathering of popular consensus among "scientists". Old-Boy's-Club science, with awards, congratulations, drinks and cigars all around. (My list of scientists is longer than your list of scientists, therefore my opinion is scientific, and yours is not.)
The Scientism Pages highlight Democratic Group Think in Material Science. The Scientism Pages identify Popular Ideas touted as Scientific by silly, sophmoric "Scientists".
Refuting Scientism, the term coined by F. A. Hayek for modern pseudo-science. Refuting Scientism is another ho-hum, heavy-sigh, here-we-go-again effort to return to truth, common sense and sanity.
The Modernist Heresy: Western Man's Descent from Philosophy into Modernism. Modernism is the heresy of heresies, because it carries within it all previous heresies, being as it is a direct, frontal assault upon faith and all doctrine and dogma.
The Population Problem: A Real Problem, or a typical Scientistic Myth? If England has a higher population density than China, and Hong Kong's is higher than Bangladesh, then maybe the real problems are not related to any over - population problem.
The Enlightenment and Scientism advance at the expense of Western Civilization. From Voltaire to Enlightenment and Scientism to Modernism, the ill-informed cheer the process along even as it destroys Western Culture.
"There is no such thing as Scientism" say those who practice it. If Scientism is a false term, then by what title to we refer to "Scientific Theory Established By Vote"?
Eco-Nazi -ism: global problems demanding global solutions, and, global mastery. The Eco-Nazi movement actually describes two movements: those who say "it's the economy, stupid" and those who say "it's the ecology, stupid."
Global warming is outed as another global consensual fraud. So what else is new? As a global consensual fraud, global warming is not the biggest, the oldest, the longest running, or the most expensive. It’s just the latest one.
Well, is it Global Cooling, or is it Global Warming? Is there any consensus? What is needed is some real Scientistic Consensus on whether we should all be screaming "Global Cooling!" or "Global Warming!" as we all run about, on queue, mindlessly waving our arms in terror.
This ain’t Health Care. It’s all a giant pile of lies. No, it isn’t really Health Care. Nothing in Obamunism is what it appears to be.
The HIV=AIDS=DEATH myth has cost many human lives and untold billions of dollars. The HIV to AIDS Myth may be the greatest and most massive international hoax since Piltdown Man. HIV=AIDS=DEATH is the formula, but where, pray tell, is there any empirical evidence at all supporting it?
A fatal false premise is a deadly logical trap for the mal-educated person. A Fatal false premise with broad general consensus will always trump reason, evidence and critical thinking.
Against the great Communist Lie; the old, current and newer forms. Our argument: The whole “Communist Dream” is a lie; the history of “Communist Revolution” is a lie; virtually everything about Communism is just a big elaborate flagrant categorical lie.
Silly premises built on crumbling foundations: Global Villageism & Evolutionism. The Dem Global-Villagers insist the US Constitution was written to cover all citizens of Earth; Disciples of Scientism and Evolutionism all genuflect before their high priest, Richard Dawkins.
The Galileo Inquisition: Contemporary Icon for the Enlightenment and Scientism. The Galileo Inquisition was no small affair at the time, but over the centuries it has grown and become a club with which to beat the Church, and to promote the myth of the "Dark" ages.
"We belong to the Church militant; and She is militant because on earth the powers of darkness are ever restless to encompass Her destruction. Not only in the far-off centuries of the early Church, but down through the ages and in this our day, the enemies of God and Christian civilization make bold to attack the Creator’s supreme dominion and sacrosanct human rights.”--Pope Pius XII
"It is not lawful to take the things of others to give to the poor. It is a sin worthy of punishment, not an act deserving a reward, to give away what belongs to others."--St. Francis of Assisi
Truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.—Winston Churchill
The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.—Ayn Rand
