Only Santorum gets it; the others are all lost in the political fog. The Florida debate on Thursday was apparently the second time Santorum took both Romney and Gingrich to the woodshed for their support of government-run health care in general and the citizen mandate to buy it in particular. I didn’t get to watch it, as usual; I seldom do. As usual, I had to depend on talk radio to bring me up to date as I did my Friday runs as a courier driver. First, I listen to Glenn Beck, until he goes off the air; then, I listen to Rush Limbaugh, until he goes off the air. Then, I listen to Sean Hannity, until he goes off the air. I then hear Clark Howard until my day is done and I get back home. After dinner, I’m usually pretty tired, and bed time is closing in. Weekday mornings provide my usual hour or two to work on this website before going to work again.
So, what is it that Santorum gets, that everybody else misses? The foundational principles of America: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Everyone else was talking about something else. What does a health insurance mandate have to do with citizen liberty, and with the pursuit of happiness? Well, when the government mandates that the citizenry must purchase a product with their own money under penalty of law, would you not say that the citizenry has lost some liberty, and some of their money, which would injure their choices of how to spend their money, which would injure the free market itself?
It might be more appropriate to ask how it is that only Santorum gets it. Are the other guys who stood on that stage dummies? It is the most foundational and important American principle that is at stake here. It makes no difference whatsoever that some two thirds of the population of Massachusetts liked or preferred Romney-Care. This is not a Democracy, and neither is it Mob-Rule. A thing is either right, or it is wrong. State’s Rights under the 10th Amendment do not allow any state to take away any citizen’s rights to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness. No level of government can do that. If your mayor and city council couldn’t do it, what makes you think your state government ought to be able to legislate it? Are we all Americans or not?
Forget, for the moment, the argument that government health insurance, at any level at all, grows government beyond Constitutional restraints. If any state Constitution has no such restraints, it ought to have them. In any case, no American can be forced by government to buy something against his will. That’s a violation of the founding principles of America. The whole purpose for the existence our government is to protect those rights.
Romney thinks this is a piddling little point that is not worth getting angry about. He and Gingrich both have pushed for personal mandates on government health insurance, which is something that does not even appear in Article 1 Section 8, or anywhere else in the Constitution, which means that it is extra-Constitutional, at least, and un-Constitutional at worst. And it most certainly violates America’s founding principles.
Romney and Gingrich spent most of the debate time going after each other for which one of them might be the biggest, or the most, or the worst bourgeois Capitalist exploiter, to use the terminology that would be more familiar to Democrats, although even they carefully avoid that specific terminology in public. Paul proved that he didn’t have a clue about the big principle involved when he said, of the Romney-Santorum exchange regarding the public mandate, “Neither one of them knows what he’s talking about.” He’s just lost in space.
And that brings us back to the talk show hosts. Beck got it right off the bat; he felt that Santorum won the debate, on that point. Rush got it too; he also felt that Santorum had won, on that point. Hannity apparently missed it. Brief mention; that was about it. Hannity is so obviously worried about the negativity between Romney and Gingrich, to the exclusion of just about everything else, that it looks like he has already subconsciously written Santorum off as an also-ran.And that puts Hannity right in there with the SLIMC1 , the polls, the networks, the Democrats, the Establishment Republicans, academia, celebrity and just about everyone in the news these days. They all think that only Romney, or, some of them, only Gingrich, can win a debate against the absolute incompetent numbskull incumbent, Comrade Obama (peace be upon him.)
Yeah, the one who doesn’t know how many states we have. And, the one who can’t speak ten words without his teleprompter. And, the one who never ever debated anyone worth debating. Yeah, that’s him: the one they all think is some kind of grand speaker and debater. They are convinced of it.
The received wisdom of the inside-the-beltway elite inner circle, including such luminaries as Krauthammer, Coulter, Hume and others, including Hannity, says that we need to carefully vote for the most conservative candidate who can win, and the who can win proviso narrows the field, in their tiny little minds, to two candidates only. And what they are all so upset about is that those two candidates are publicly destroying each other, and providing film-clips of the destroying of each other that will be used by the Democrats against one of them in the general election.
They are all wet.
Listen to me. Anyone who can articulate American Constitutional Conservatism as well as Santorum cannot possibly lose an open debate with the absolute dumb assed Marxist we have as an incumbent. That’s just a fact.
Santorum is the only one who will actually stick to his guns and repeal Obama-Care, totally. The others will talk a good game, but at the first opposition, they will find an excuse to throw up their hands and say to the public “Well, I tried!” They don’t really hate it. This is only another political issue to them; they don’t support the Tea Party in their gut. And they most certainly are not the only ones who can win against Obama; that notion is nearly a joke.
Don’t look at the polls; the Left-slanted media owns and operates them. Don’t listen to the networks or the pundits. Your state primary is your only opportunity to not hold you nose while you vote. Vote for the man who stands rock solid on principle. If he is not the nominee, you will then get a chance to hold your nose and vote in the general election. Just like the last time we allowed the Democrats and the media to pick our Republican candidate for us, in 2008.
I will tell you this: There is only one candidate who stands a good chance of loosing the general election if he is the Republican nominee, and that is Mitt Romney. He has already said he intends to use the McCain strategy and not go after his opponent. Take a good look at how that worked out for McCain in the last election. That’s the approach Romney intends to take. He’s a loser, just like McCain. And the Democrats and the media know it.
Gingrich can win, but he’s a progressive, just like Romney; and, he is a polished political professional, which is a very kind way of saying that he will do whatever it takes to win whatever point is in contention. (The ends justify the means?) Paul can win, but he’s a real nut-case on defense and on foreign affairs. He isn’t even aware of Osama Bin Ladin’s own words describing why he went to war against us; words that are near verbatim quotes from the Koran. You can see the exact words in the Definition of Islam page. Paul thinks we asked for it. If we’d just be nice, they’d go away.
The only good, moral man of rock solid American principle left standing is Rick Santorum.
Santorum gets it. Support him.

Thanks to ALL of the many people who corrected me on the correct spelling of Ron Paul's (Paulson’s) name; I don’t know why I made that error.
Perhaps I subconsciously thought of him as Pat Paulsen, the comedian who ran for President on the silly ticket, with the ultimate goal of getting one electoral vote. I never took Ron Paul seriously. Anyone who began his “9/11 Cause Theory” with the belief that it was an inside-job and Bush did it, then modified it to be that the Israeli Mossad did it, and then modified it to be that we asked for it does not deserve any more serious consideration as a candidate than Pat Paulsen did.
I have corrected the error throughout the webpage; thanks again.

Too many have been indoctrinated to think our society should reflect multiculturalism instead of Americanism. They are "world citizens" as our President wants us to be, which will be America's demise if American culture (values: Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness) is not re-learned. For sure Ron Paul does not "get" that Islam is spreading & the main goal is to take over the world & install Sharia law. Gingrich gets that. Romney will equivocate & possibly abdicate. The founding Fathers were not pro-immigration. They expected assimilation to the dominant culture for those who did. IMO Santorum gets too little attention. Thanks for the article.

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in
thereat. How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life:
and few there are that find it! Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
